Updates at Naibor Camp

During my last visit to Kenya, I was lucky enough to spend a night at Naibor Camp in the Masai Mara.  It was a serene camp (camps, really – there are three distinctly different camps there – more on that in a moment) perched on the banks of the Talek River (well, serene when the hippos were relaxed).  I thought it was fabulous when I was there, but never ones to rest, the folks at Naibor have been busy at work improving things for the better. Here’s what’s new.

Guests are now able to relax outdoors on a lovely patio that overlooks the river and Mara plains beyond with a delicious adult beverage in hand and listen to the ever-present hippo jostle and argue amongst themselves.  (Though perching just above the river’s edge with a cocktail is a wonderful place to enjoy a sundowner as well!)

The dining room or “mess”, as it is fondly referred to in Kenya, has been enlarged allowing guests to choose whether they want to be sociable or would prefer some quiet time, but this within earshot of their fellow safari travelers.

Naibor offers three intimate and very romantic boutique camps all built on the river’s edge. Naibor Camp features seven fabulous en-suite tents all with indoor and outdoor living spaces and private dining areas overlooking the hippo pools.

A few paces away affording it total privacy is Little Naibor. This glorious little camp offers two suites each featuring two bedrooms with their own en-suite facilities. This is ideal for families or up to four couples traveling together. The accommodations are connected by a stylish and spacious lounge area.

Downstream is the new Naibor Wilderness, another haven of peace, tranquility and romance, offering just three vast luxurious tents with indoor and outdoor living spaces and a main dining area for the three couples. Honeymoon Heaven!  I stayed in Naibor main camp during my visit and it was absolutely lovely, but I must say Naibor Wilderness was my personal favorite with its privacy and more rustic tents.

Twice daily safaris across the game-rich sweeping savannahs are offered with highly trained and qualified game guides from open Land Cruisers.  The food is marvelous and the staff are wonderful and these new changes have made things even better.  Isn’t it time for a visit?  Drop us a line and we’ll get you there!
