Stella’s Tanzania Trip Report: Day 7

April 15, 2013  By: Gretchen

All of us in the office have had that feeling of heartbreak on the day we leave Africa, and Stella was no exception on her recent trip to Tanzania – but we know it’s not ‘goodbye’, it’s only ‘see you later’. We’ll definitely be back – and soon!

Day  7 – Heading home

I am not sure if it was that fact that it was my last morning in Africa or the last glass of wine the night before, but I wanted to stay in bed this morning. I really wanted to stay forever. I forced myself to face the morning and finished packing my bag before I made my way to breakfast. I decided on an omelet and bacon to get me through to the flight to Jo’burg, where my next meal would be provided.

We made our way to the vehicle for our final game drive to Kogatende airstrip for our flight to Dar es Salaam via Arusha. I was in the co-pilot’s seat on this flight and once we made it to our cruising altitude, I got to enjoy some incredible views! From Dar, we flew to Jo’burg on South African Airways and then continue to JFK. At JFK, I said goodbye to my travel companions and made my way to my flight to Denver. I arrived in Denver just in time for the snow to fall. What a shock to the system, seven days in the Serengeti to seven inches of snow in Denver! I wouldn’t have it any other way!!
