As we move into the thick of the holiday season, it’s hard to imagine that this is the time to book your summer 2015 safari, especially if you want to see the Great Migration. The holidays are the perfect time to plan a family trip – everyone is together and feeling festive, and it’s a fine moment to plan the next big get together (or to surprise your loved ones with an amazing trip!).
We love every season in Africa, as it always has something to offer, but for many families, it’s most practical to travel during our summer when the kids are out of school. To have the best chance to see the wildebeest migration in East Africa, Kenya is a wonderful choice for the July – September months.
Kenya has a huge range of accommodations in the Masai Mara ecosystem, from luxury to budget. There are also a wide range of family-friendly properties available – with kid’s programs, babysitting, swimming pools and more.
Kenya also offers wonderful opportunities for exclusivity. The Masai Mara is bordered by community-owned conservancies that offer the same wonderful wildlife experience that you get in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, but with exclusive traversing rights in the conservancy granted only to the few camps contained within their borders. Not only do you enjoy fewer tourists when visiting these conservancies, you also contribute directly to the communities that own them. During a stay, there is always an option to leave the conservancy to visit the Mara itself for a full day game drive, so it’s the best of both worlds!
We have the expertise to craft the perfect safari for your multi-generational family trip. We’ve done it ourselves. AAC owner and president Kent Redding has taken his own children on many safaris, as well as taking 3 generations to Africa at once. We have learned and experienced the best types of properties and activities that work for diverse family and multi-generational safaris, so you can count on us to work with you to create a wonderful experience for your family!
