Itinerary
Days 1 & 2 – Sossusvlei: Depart Windhoek and drive to Sossusvlei, eventually arriving at your private concession (approximate driving time: 5 hours). Here, you’ll enjoy access to the Sossusvlei dunes for walks in the immense moving sands of the Namib, game drives and stargazing. Photography in the early morning of the dunes is particularly stunning with rich reds and dark shadows completing the extraordinary Namib Desert. Overnights Kulala Adventurer Camp. Meals begin with lunch on Day 1. (B, L, D, Dr)
Days 3 & 4 – Swakopmund: After breakfast, drive through the snaking roads of the Kuiseb Canyon and out onto the expansive gravel plains before arriving in Walvis Bay and then finally up to the skeleton coast into the quaint town of Swakopmund (approximate driving time: 5-6 hours). Enjoy two days to explore the fascinating sites and activities in this colonial town set between the dunes and the cold Atlantic Ocean. A private “Dolphin and Seal” catamaran cruise from Walvis Bay (weather permitting) provides a wonderful opportunity to explore this beautiful bay and coastline. Overnights Hansa Hotel. Days 5, 6, & 7 – Damaraland: Departing early, you’ll travel east to Damaraland and the Palmwag concession (approximate driving time: 8 hours). Here, on the concession and in the surrounding areas, the desert-adapted elephants and elusive black rhino can be found. Enjoy activities such as nature walks, mountain biking, tracking, and game drives focused on everything from birds to insects, medicinal uses of plants and wildlife. Your stay will also include a visit to Twyfelfontein, where you’ll take a guided walk with local Damara guides to view the San petroglyphs – prehistoric rock etchings, strewn over the rock face. Days 8 & 9 – Ongava/Etosha: After breakfast, you’ll drive to Etosha, where you will be met and transferred to Ongava Tented Camp in the Ongava Private Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park (approximate driving time: 5 hours). Spend two days enjoying a variety of activities, from game walks to game drives and visits to hides both on the property and in the famous Etosha National Park. Overnights Ongava Tented Camp. Day 10 – Etosha/Windhoek: After breakfast, drive to Windhoek, arriving at approximately 1 pm. On the way, you’ll enjoy a scenic lunch overlooking the view of the plains nearby. (B, L)
NOTE: It is recommended that you arrive one night before the tour starts in Windhoek – hotel and airport transfers can be arranged at an additional cost.
