Zambia is a magical country in Southern Africa that is off the beaten tourist track. It holds a special place in our hearts for African safaris here at Africa Adventure Consultants. South Luangwa National Park is at the core of what is special about Zambia – a park renowned for its incredible game, with huge numbers of hippos and leopards, as well as unique species of giraffe and zebra. On top of that, there is prolific bird life.
At the gateway to this park lies Mfuwe Lodge. Tucked beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany trees, its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where wildlife streams through on a constant basis. Today we want to share a few photos and words with you about of the kind of characters that Mfuwe staff constantly find wandering about the grounds. It’s a magical place to start a Zambian adventure!
We too try to at least keep our lawn watered and as green as possible…but when it doesn’t actually rain for about seven months of the year, and when a variety of 4-legged visitors treat it as both a bed and a meal table…well, all you can do is welcome all comers…and keep the camera handy!’
If you’d like to sit and gaze upon Mfuwe’s lawns yourself, check out a few of our sample itineraries such as our Zambia and Malawi Wild Safari, or our Zambia Walking Safari – hailed as one of the ‘Best Summer Adventures of 2013’ by Men’s Journal! Safari Specialist Jenny
honeymooned in South Luangwa earlier this year and can share lots of ideas and tips to plan the perfect African adventure there!
