A Letter from AAC President Kent Redding

March 19, 2020  By: Kent

Dear Fellow Travelers,

When I started Africa Adventure Consultants in 2001, I never thought we’d be celebrating our 19th anniversary like this. My heart goes out to everyone affected by COVID-19. As a company, we are taking the situation seriously and are following guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). Our staff members have transitioned to working remotely and I am encouraging all to engage in social distancing to help prevent more widespread impact of the virus.

The travel industry has faced big challenges in the past and has come through them successfully. We are a resilient community facing this together. We are working together with our partners on the ground in Africa and around the world for creative solutions. We have already been in touch with many clients about postponing upcoming travel plans or altering their travel plans as necessary. We’ll continue to reach out to our travelers as we have updates.

You may be asking yourself what you can do now. We recommend you get your information from expert sources, such as the CDC and WHO, and follow the guidelines they’ve set forth. Reminiscing on past travel experiences also helps me focus on the positive. To fight the onset of cabin fever, I’ve recently spent time with my family recounting stories from our chimp trekking in Mahale last year, our exploration of South Africa when our boys were younger and swimming with sharks and seals in the Galapagos Islands. We’ve also been talking about where we want to go when it’s safe and appropriate to do so. Our travel plans have been delayed, but I think very soon it will be the time to book our next adventure in Africa and beyond before everyone else decides to do the same!
