AAC President Kent Redding recently attended the red carpet premiere of The Royal Tour, the latest installment of Peter Greenberg’s show where he tours a destination with its head of state. The premiere gala took place in Los Angeles, California at Paramount Pictures Studios.
The event, attended by Mr. Greenberg and President Hassan herself, drew a large crowd of expat Tanzanians, Hollywood actors, nature lovers, and safari operators. “The show does a great job of featuring the highlights of northern Tanzania and Zanzibar,” said Redding. “I was also really impressed with President Hassan as a person (she had a sense of humor) and I like the direction the new president is taking the country so far.”
This edition of the television special features Tanzania and Zanzibar, where Emmy award-winning journalist Greenberg is hosted by Tanzania’s president Samia Suluhu Hassan, a native of Zanzibar’s Pemba Island. The first Muslim woman of color to hold the highest office in an African country, President Hassan has proven herself an agent of change – promoting tourism, encouraging women-run businesses and improving the health care system among other accomplishments.

They also visited Zanzibar (Unguja) and Pemba Islands where many AAC travelers choose to end their safaris with relaxing time on the beach. They even delved into the country’s sophisticated anti-poaching efforts.
