Singita Boulders Lodge
The contemporary African style found at Boulders Lodge is inspired by the geometry of the rough boulders amid which it is built. Natural hues accentuate a sense of space that flows in from surrounding vistas through floor-to-ceiling walls of glass. Located on the banks of the Sand River, the lodge is in the heart of South Africa’s safari country so that your days are spent viewing wildlife and mesmerizing landscapes–not just getting there in time to head back to camp. Yet every vacation needs easy days, and this is one of those places travelers never want to leave. With private pools, outdoor showers, fireplaces and elegant dining and imbibing options, this is the perfect place to spend a leisurely day or a chill evening.
The name of the lodge comes from a boulder that stood in the way of excavating a wine cellar. The owners wisely left the boulder in place and built the cellar around it. Like the namesake boulder, you may find yourself never wanting to leave.
Singita Ebony Lodge
Overlooking the Sand River, Ebony Lodge brings colonial Europe and contemporary South African style together in a way rarely seen elsewhere. Opened in 1993, the lodge gives one the sense it has been here much longer, rooted both to its land and to the sense of grand travel that it ingrains upon all who visit.
They call this area of the Singita Sabi Sand Reserve “Big Cat Country,” and you will feel the presence of the grand cats everywhere. The problem with staying somewhere so nice is that you won’t want to leave, though the fact that wildlife can often be seen from the outdoor dining areas means leaving is completely optional.
Each room comes with private outdoor space in which to enjoy a cocktail before bed or a cup of coffee at dawn, both ideal times to hear the sounds of the bush.
