The More family really pays attention to details in order to create a luxurious yet warm atmosphere at all the Lion Sands properties – River Lodge, Ivory Lodge, Narina and Tinga. I really enjoyed sitting on my private deck at Narina, taking in the sun, then cooling off in my private plunge pool as elephants browsed across the river.

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is ultra luxurious yet simple and uncluttered, never drawing attention to itself but always focusing your experience on the surroundings. Each suite is designed and catered to as a private villa within a small village. Named the world’s 3rd best hotel by Tattler Magazine and included in numerous lists of the world’s finest hotels, each villa is lavishly appointed and exquisitely sited for privacy and views within the Sabi Sand Reserve adjacent to Kruger National Park. Public areas include fireplace lounges, a library, spa, gymnansium and indoor and outdoor fine dining areas.

Lion Sands River Lodge

On the banks of the Sabie River, the aptly named River Lodge is situated within a grove of 800-year-old trees. Facing due east, guests are greeted each morning by the sun rising over Kruger Park. With two swimming pools, a private fireplace lounge, ample viewing decks and the Africology Health Spa and gym, River Lodge pampers and astonishes on a daily basis.

Lion Sands Tinga Lodge

Lion Sands Tinga Lodge has only 9 private suites so each guest is quickly on a first name basis with staff members who are often thought of as mind readers.

With classic safari style, thatched exteriors open into all the classic colonial comforts of home. A massive wooden deck surrounds a 200-year-old jackalberry tree and offers views of the Sabie River and frequent sightings of animals including the Big Five.

With 5000 private hectares within the world-renowned Kruger Park, this is a place to get lost in time.

Lion Sands Narina Lodge

The Lion Sands Narina Lodge inside Kruger National Park consists of just 9 suites connected by wooden walkways. Overlooking the Sabie River, this camp is located within the same 5000-hectate parcel of private land as Tinga Lodge. The skillful guides are often able to lead guests to Big Five viewings right on the property.

Where is Lion Sands?

Skukuza, 1350, South Africa
Flanking the Kruger National Park, animals pass unhindered between the unfenced reserves. Known for its extraordinary leopard viewing, safari enthusiasts could not find a better place for close-contact animal sightings that many would insist are the best in the world.
