Itinerary
Day 1 – La Paz: Welcome to Mexico! Upon arrival in Los Cabos International Airport, after clearing immigration, baggage collection and customs, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your hotel. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner with your guide. Overnight at Hotel Catedral La Paz.
Located in La Paz, Hotel Catedral La Paz is near major attractions in the city. Rooms are neat and are equipped with TVs, bathrooms and safety deposit boxes. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Visitors can enjoy nearby attractions and activities such as Playa Balandra, whale watching and fishing.
Day 2 – La Paz: After breakfast, meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel and set out for a morning marine wildlife extravaganza to swim with whale sharks in the shallows of the Bay of La Paz. From late October through April 30th each year, these gentle giants feed in the bay. Swimming with whale sharks in the Bay of La Paz is a tightly regulated program designed to both protect the sharks and to enhance the human experience of enjoying these magnificent beings in their home environment.
After the thrill of swimming next to these gentle giants, return to La Paz for lunch. Then explore the historic town at leisure. Dinner tonight is at a local fine restaurant. Overnight at Hotel Catedral La Paz.
Day 3 – La Paz: After an early breakfast meet your guide in the hotel lobby and transfer to Puerto Chale in Magdalena Bay (approximately 3 hour drive). Climb aboard the boat for a 3-hour whale watching adventure in search of the majestic Grey Whales. Enjoy lunch onboard. After, return to La Paz and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 4 – Isla Espiritu Santo: This morning transfer to the harbor and board your awaiting boat, setting out into the Sea of Cortez (approximately 1 hour boat ride). Arriving at Isla Espiritu Santo, take in spectacular views of the surrounding pristine beaches and national marine park. Espiritu Santo National Park in the Sea of Cortez is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is one of the best marine life viewing destinations in the world. Whales, dolphins, whale sharks, sea turtles, manta rays and plenty of beautiful tropical fish call the surrounding waters home, while a terrific range of bird species including Blue-footed Boobies, Reddish Egrets, Great Blue Herons and Yellow-footed Gulls frequent the island’s skies and shores. The island itself is stunning, with magnificent towering cliffs, spectacular sandy bays, amazing lava rock formations and rock art left by the now-extinct Guaycura and Pericu Indians. There’s even an endemic ringtailed cat, the babisuri. It’s a remarkable place to explore.
Over the next two nights glamp under the stars and spend the days swimming with sea lions, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, hiking, birding, exploring deserted beaches and indulging in daily happy hours and fantastic food!
Camp Cecil is based one of Isla Espiritu Santo’s most beautiful beaches which features beautifully decorated walk-in safari-style tents with real beds, lovely linens, bedside tables, lanterns, beach towels, storage space, rugs, chairs and more. Espiritu Xantus Café is where the on-site chef makes wonderful meals for you every day – and daily happy hour of course – and there are two sun showers and two compost toilet cabañas.
Day 5 – Isla Espiritu Santo: Enjoy another fun-filled day of beach activity on Isla Espiritu Santo including swimming with sea lions, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, hiking, birding and exploring deserted beaches. Overnight at Camp Cecil.
Day 6 – Todos Santos: After a final morning on the beach, climb aboard the boats and return to La Paz. Transfer to Todos Santos and check into your casita. This evening dine at Iker’s Colibiris Cafe on a gourmet taco dinner prepared by acclaimed Baja Chef Iker Algorri, chef in residence at Los Colibris Casitas and author of Cooking Adventures in Baja California Sur. Overnight at Los Colibris Casitas.
Los Colibris Casitas was made for nature lovers seeking beauty and tranquility. It offers the services and amenities of a boutique hotel, combined with the privacy and comfort of a vacation home. Each of their casas and casitas has magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean, a freshwater estuary and a palm grove oasis to the front, and the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains to the side and back. From your casa you can watch the fishermen cast their nets on the beach in the early morning light, wait for the green flash of a magnificent Baja sunset in the late afternoon and enjoy the vast expanse of a star-filled sky at night. Los Colibris is just a 10-minute walk to 70 miles of pristine, virtually empty beach, and a 5-minute drive to the delightful restaurants, artists’ galleries and shops of Todos Santos.
Day 7 – Todos Santos: This morning set out for a horse ride along the shores of Todos Santos. Later this afternoon, pull on your swimsuit and hit the waves in a surf lesson with a local expert instructor. Surf enthusiasts of all ages and levels of experience will enjoy! Dinner this evening is in town and overnight at Los Colibris.
Day 8 – Todos Santos: Start the day with a 3.5 hour cliff walk taking in sweeping Pacific Ocean beach views of Todos Santos and the stunning desert landscape that runs into the sea, passing an active sea lion colony and the ruins of Los Algodones, an old shipping port. Ending at San Pedro, a picnic lunch awaits and time allows for a swim, sunbathing and time to relax at leisure. Return to your hotel for a Mexican cooking class with Chef Iker Algorri and overnight at Los Colibris.
Day 9 – Depart: At the time advised locally, you will be transferred to the international airport for your departing flights home.
