11-Day Adventure Safari in Botswana & Victoria Falls

Designed for intrepid travelers, our Botswana Adventure Safari takes guests to some of the most pristine wildlife areas of Botswana and Victoria Falls to experience them in an adventurous and active way. This jam-packed 11-day tour first takes you to marvel at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, then white water rafting on the Zambezi river below the falls (optional) and to an authentic cultural visit at a local village. Then you’ll move on the Botswana, and enjoy three days of canoeing, camping and game viewing in the famous Selinda Reserve. Next you’ll visit Machaba Camp in the Khwai region, part of the game-rich Okavango Delta. Here, game dives, walking safaris and village visits are the order of the day. Last, you’ll finish off in the vast and remote Central Kalahari Game Reserve, a harsh but beautiful ecosystem which is second largest game reserve in the world.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Victoria Falls: Arrive at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and transfer to your lodge. Located in the north-west corner of Zimbabwe, the Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River are the central points in an area of spectacular scenic beauty: from the falls themselves to the broad, picturesque course of the Zambezi River upstream, the rainforest adjacent and the stark jagged gorge downstream, the power and timelessness of nature’s forces are evident throughout. Enjoy a sunset river cruise on the Zambezi. Overnight at Bayete Guest Lodge.

Bayete Guest Lodge has 30 rooms, surrounded by a lush tropical gardens which create an oasis in the heart of the quiet Victoria Falls residential area. 

Day 2 – Victoria Falls: After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the Victoria Falls. After lunch, enjoy a visit to the local village, a school tour, helicopter tour of the Falls, white water river rafting, bungee jumping or gorge swing (some at additional cost). Overnight at Bayete Guest Lodge.

Day 3 – Linyanti Reserve: Today, fly to the Linyanti Reserve in Northern Botswana. The Linyanti remains wonderfully underused with a high concentration of game. Overnight at Linyanti Expeditions, which is situated in a private concession, bordering the Chobe National Park. The area is frequented by vast herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra that attract iconic predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dogs.

Linyanti Expeditions is an intimate expeditions camp comprised of 6 luxury tents The wow factor is the star suite. Each tent has a gazebo extension, where beds can be moved at night to give the experience of sleeping beneath a blanket of glimmering stars, immersing yourself in the wonders of the wilderness while still staying in the security of a mesh-enclosed area.

Days 4 & 5 – Linyanti Reserve: Enjoy two days of shared safari activities in the Linyanti Reserve. Activities include 4×4 game drives, guided wildlife walks and mokoro (canoe) safaris. Overnights at Linyanti Expeditions.

Day 6 – Okavango Delta: Today, fly to the game-rich Khwai area in Okavango Delta. The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta system in the world and offers spectacular game viewing, including elephant, lion, zebra, leopard and giraffe. Arrive at camp in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon safari activity. Overnight at Machaba Camp.

Machaba Camp is situated in the game-rich Khwai area, on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta. All ten luxury tents are situated in the beautiful riverine treeline on the Khwai River, overlooking the famous Moremi Game Reserve. From these tented verandas, one can watch the daily parade of animals coming down to drink at the river in front of the camp. Activities include game viewing, game walks, village visits and more.

Days 7 & 8 – Okavango Delta: Enjoy two days of shared safari activities in the Okavango Delta. Activities include 4×4 game drives, guided wildlife walks, mokoro (canoe) excursions and visits to the local community. Overnights at Machaba Camp.

Day 9 – Central Kalahari Game Reserve: Today, fly to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, located in the largest continuous stretch of sand in the world. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve, extending over 31,068 square miles, was set aside in 1961. The reserve and empty lands around it support tens of thousands of desert antelope – gemsbok and springbok, lions, leopard and cheetah. Arrive at camp in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon safari activity. Overnight at Tau Pan Camp.

Tau Pan Camp is the first semi-permanent camp inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and offers truly incredible views from the ridge of an ancient sand dune, an unusual experience in a land as flat as Botswana. Tau Pan accommodates up to eighteen people in nine environmentally-designed units, complete with double basins, indoor and outdoor showers and private decks. The main area of the camp includes a bar, lounge and dining areas all set around the fireplace, which is the ideal spot for game viewing down to the waterhole. Star-gazing is also especially beautiful here due to the remote location of the camp, and a telescope is provided for guests’ use. A sleep-out deck is available for guests who wish to spend an amazing night sleeping under the open Kalahari night sky. 

Day 10 – Central Kalahari Game Reserve: Today enjoy a bushman walk where you will learn about the traditional lifestyle of the ancient Bushman clan through dress, activities and a short walk. You will also enjoy a shared game drive with a tracker who comes from the San Bushman tribe. Overnight at Tau Pan Camp.

Day 11 – Depart: Enjoy your final morning on safari and then fly to Maun and onward to Johannesburg, South Africa where you will connect to your international flight.
