BOTSWANA DELUXE SAFARI
8-Day Luxury Flying Safari to the Okavango Delta
Enjoy this luxury, tented camp safari in the heart of Botswana’s premier wildlife areas. As the name Botswana Deluxe Safari implies, the accommodations, food, service and guides on this safari are top notch. The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta system in the world and offers spectacular game viewing, including elephant, lion, zebra, leopard & giraffe. Diverse activities allow guests time on the water, on land and on foot.
Kwetsani Camp consists of six furnished ‘tree-house’ chalets, each with its own en-suite bathroom, which are an open, airy accommodation of thatch, wood, glass and canvas. The camp offers excellent land and water activities dependent on the annual flood levels of the Okavango Delta. Game drives, as well as breathtaking wildlife viewing by mokoro and boat are available.
DAYS 3 & 4 – MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE:After a morning activity and breakfast, fly by light aircraft to Chitabe Camp in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. Enjoy two days of game drives and activities. Meals and overnights at Chitabe Camp. (B, L, D, Dr)
Chitabe Camp’s eight spacious Meru-style tents are built on elevated wooden decks amongst the trees of the Okavango. Each tent has en-suite facilities including an indoor as well as an outdoor shower. The Chitabe private area, in the south east of the Okavango Delta which borders the Moremi Game Reserve, is a combination of open floodplains, wooded islands and lagoons—setting the scene for a wide variety of wildlife.
DAYS 5, 6, & 7 – LINYANTI WILDLIFE RESERVE: After a morning activity and breakfast, fly to Duma Tau in the Linyanti Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity. Enjoy two more days of game drives and activities in the Linyanti. Meals and overnights at Duma Tau Camp. (B, L, D, Dr)
Duma Tau (meaning ‘roar of the lion’) is a ten-roomed, luxury tented camp, in the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, bordering the western boundary of Chobe National Park. The camp was rebuilt completely in 2012; it is raised off the ground to take advantage of the sweeping dramatic river views. Each en-suite tent is spacious, spreading out under a canvas roof, with a wraparound clear-storey window that allows for dramatic views of the riverfront, as well as the sounds of Africa.
DAY 8 – MAUN/DEPART: After breakfast and a final glimpse of the Wildlife reserve, you will fly by light aircraft to Maun Airport where you will take your connecting flight home.** (B)
We can easily substitute camps, some great choices are: Chitabe Lediba, Little Vumbura, Tubu Tree Camp, Kalahari Plains Camp, Savuti Camp, Xigera Camp, Jacana Camp, Jao Camp, Vumbura Plains Camp, Kings Pool Camp, Little Mombo Camp, Mombo Camp. Prices will vary.
** Or continue on and visit Victoria Falls on the Zambian or Zimbabwean side for an additional cost.
GREEN SEASON OPTION: DECEMBER-MARCH. We recommend substituting Tubu Tree Camp for Duma Tau. It is a small, intimate experience built on the western side of Hunda Island, in the Okavango Delta’s Jao Concession. Hunda Island is the largest stretch of dry land in the area and many animals get trapped here during the floods. The camp has five tents on raised wooden platforms – each with picturesque vistas of the floodplains from a private front deck. En-suite bathroom facilities and an outdoor shower are standard. The main dining, lounge areas and pool are also on raised platforms and have panoramic views of the plains game.
