Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Nairobi/Meru National Park: Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi), you will transfer to Wilson Airport to connect with your scheduled flight to Meru. (Pre-night in Nairobi can be arranged at an additional cost). On arrival in Meru National Park, you will be met by your guide and transferred to camp with game viewing en route. Enjoy lunch at camp and an afternoon activity. Named after the lioness made famous by George and Joy Adamson’s biographical book and film “Born Free”, Elsa’s Kopje remains one of the most elegant lodges in Africa, in one of the most spectacular settings. Overnight at Elsa’s Kopje Meru. (L, D)
Elsa’s Kopje blends into the rocky crags of the “kopje” (small hill), above the site of George Adamson’s campsite. Every cottage is the ultimate ‘room-with-a-view’, uniquely designed and crafted, incorporating the natural features of the rocky hillside. Cottage suites, honeymoon cottages and a private house comprise this boutique safari camp in Meru National Park.
Day 2 – Meru National Park: Enjoy shared safari activities in Meru National Park. Activities include game drives, guided walks, bush breakfasts, fishing, swimming, spa treatments, and cultural visits (some at an additional cost). Overnight at Elsa’s Kopje Meru. (B, L, D)
Day 3 – Lewa Wildlife Conservancy: After breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Lewa Wilderness. This is a scenic drive to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of northern Kenya. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is home to about 10% of Kenya‘s black rhino population and the largest population of Grevy’s zebra in the world. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon activity. Lewa Wilderness is one of Kenya’s original private safari experiences, situated on the edge of one of Kenya’s most private wildlife and environmental conservation projects. With just nine accommodation options, Lewa Wilderness provides a spacious yet personal experience. Each of the six hillside cottages has en-suite facilities, a cozy sitting area and fireplace and a private outdoor veranda. Additionally, the lodge offers three garden rooms perfect for families with two en-suite bedrooms joined by a sitting area with bar and fireplace.
Day 4 – Lewa Wildlife Conservancy: Enjoy a full day of shared safari activities in Lewa Wilderness Conservancy. Activities include game drives, guided walks, swimming, horse or camel riding and cultural visits (some at an additional cost). Overnight at Lewa Wilderness. (B, L, D, Dr)
Day 5 – Masai Mara: After breakfast, transfer to the local airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. During certain months of the year, the Masai Mara is home to the wildebeest migration. Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide and transfer to camp with game viewing en route. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon safari activity. Overnight at Elephant Pepper Camp. (B, L, D, Dr)
Elephant Pepper Camp is situated in the prime core of the protected Mara North Conservancy wilderness area. In the same location for 20 years, one of the original, very small and exclusive tented camps, Elephant Pepper is located away from other lodges, in the heart of the African bush. Spacious canvas tents are comfortably furnished, featuring en suite bathrooms with flush toilets. Nothing rivals sitting around the campfire enjoying the sounds of the African night.
Days 6 & 7 – Masai Mara: Enjoy two day of shared safari activities in the Masai Mara. Activities include game drives, guided walks, and cultural visits. Overnights at Elephant Pepper Camp. (B, L, D, Dr)
Day 8 – Masai Mara/Depart: After a last game drive in the Masai Mara, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, a representative will meet and transfer you to your Nairobi hotel (booked separately) or to the international airport for your journey home. (B)
