Itinerary
Day 1 – Cape Town: Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure. Overnight at Kensington Place.
Kensington Place is a contemporary private hotel which combines cutting-edge design with a tranquil but prime location off trendy Kloof Street, below Table Mountain. Eight bespoke en-suite guest rooms have extra length king size beds and private outdoor terraces. This is a private home styled with immaculate taste, the finest linens used on the beds, the thickest towels used in the bathrooms and flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations and personal laptops with complementary Wi-fi access are just a few of the modern accessories.
Day 2 – Cape Town/City & Table Mountain Tour: After breakfast, enjoy a private half-day City & Table Mountain Tour. Your tour of the “mother city” will take in the Houses of Parliament, the Castle (built between 1666 and 1679, this is South Africa’s oldest building), the lively Greenmarket Square with its daily market, the Company Gardens, and of course Table Mountain, which will give you spectacular views over the city and the Cape Peninsula. (Note: cable car ticket not included, as it is weather dependent and usually closed for maintenance from end July to mid-August). Later, make a stop at Bo-Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly colored houses. Return to your hotel for the remainder of your day at leisure. Overnight at Kensington Place.
Day 3 – Cape Town/Peninsula Tour: This tour of the Cape Peninsula starts with the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, before crossing over to Hout Bay, where you may choose to join an optional boat cruise to Seal Island. Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives, where a funicular takes you to the top of the peninsula to witness the symbolic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enjoy spectacular views over False Bay. Stop for lunch in the area (on your own account), before continuing to the naval base of Simonstown, followed by a visit to the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach. On the return trip, enjoy a stop at the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Gardens before arriving at your hotel late this afternoon. Enjoy your evening at leisure and overnight at Kensington Place.
Day 4 – Cape Town/Winelands Tour: After breakfast, enjoy a full day Winelands Tour, which is designed according to your interests. Your specialist guide will discuss your touring options, including any or all of the three main wine-growing centers: Paarl with its mountain setting and Afrikaans Language Monument; Franschhoek, the culinary capital of South Africa, with its beautiful setting, French flair and charming cafe-lined streets; and Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with canal-lined avenues and magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Wine tastings are included at premier estates and a stop will be made for lunch in a memorable location (on your own account). Return to your hotel late this afternoon and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight at Kensington Place.
Day 5 – Sabi Sand Game Reserve: After breakfast, transfer to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Skukuza Airport (flight not included). Upon arrival, transfer to Sabi Sand Game Reserve for lunch, followed by an afternoon shared safari activity. The Sabi Sand is part of the Greater Kruger Area and covers almost five million acres in the northeast of South Africa. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is home to the Big 5 and is world-renowned for its prolific leopard sightings, strict vehicle limits at sightings to ensure the exclusivity of an up-close game viewing experience and expansive areas for game drives. Dinner and overnight at Tengile River Lodge.
Tengile River Lodge features nine delicate floating suites that looks out over the river from the dappled shelter of a cool forest. Following the curve of the river bank, each area in the lodge offers magnificent river views. Raised above ground level, the spacious suites offers sunken lounges, elegant bedrooms and bathrooms that open out onto the forest, creating private spaces in the open air. Cleverly designed living areas can be converted to cater for children’s sleeping arrangements at night. A beautiful spa and gym area offer a haven of tranquility where guests can spend the entire day relaxing in between game drives.
Days 6, 7, & 8 – Sabi Sand Game Reserve: Enjoy three full days of shared safari activities in Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, interpretive nature walks, animal tracking and spa treatments (some at an additional cost). Meals and overnights at Tengile River Lodge.
Day 9 – Sabi Sand Game Reserve/Johannesburg: After your last early morning activity, you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Jo’burg, connect to your onward flights.
