Itinerary

Day 1 – Arusha: Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Tanzania, where you’ll be met and transferred to Arumeru River Lodge for overnight.

Arumeru River Lodge is a luxury lodge set in lush tropical gardens with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. This magnificent property is spread over twelve acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and natural African bushland, bordering on a river lined with precious large old trees. There are 20 spacious and comfortable rooms with en-suite bathrooms and verandas in ten chalets, all on the ground floor.

Day 2 – Manyara Ecosystem: After breakfast, drive to Maramboi Tented Camp, arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon visit to a Maasai boma or an afternoon mountain bike. This evening, enjoy an evening walking safari with a local ranger to the edge of Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at Maramboi Tented Camp, conveniently located halfway between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. (B, L, D)

Maramboi Tented Camp offers stunning views of the Manyara National Park, Rift Valley, Ngorongoro highlands and on clear days even Oldonyo Lengai, a sacred mountain to the Maasai. Each of the 40 spacious tented rooms is built on ample wooden decks and are complete with en-suite facilities, a private veranda, and 24 hours of electricity.

Day 3 – Tarangire: Enjoy a full day with a picnic lunch in Tarangire National Park, famed for its large elephant herds and huge baobab trees. Return to Maramboi Tented Camp for a refreshing dip in the pool (weather permitting)! Dinner and overnight at camp. (B, L, D)

Day 4 – Mto Wa Mbu: Drive to Mto wa Mbu for a cultural walking tour, including sites such as a tannery, rice field, banana farm, local shops, church, school, and local home. After a local lunch, continue to Ngorongoro Farm House, set in the lush Ngorongoro Highlands. The lodge offers many kid-friendly activities, such as tours of local farms and swimming in the pool. Dinner and overnight here. (B, L, D)

Ngorongoro Farm House offers 50 large cottages with ample space inside, built in the style of an old colonial farm and rustically decorated with local materials and full of details of good taste, with the purpose of offering guests an imaginary journey to the life of the days gone.

Day 5 – Ngorongoro Crater: After breakfast, drive about 1.5 hours to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and spend the day exploring the famous Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch. This 100-square-mile caldera is home to more than 20,000 large mammals like lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, wildebeest and the rare black rhino. Dinner & overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House. (B, L, D)

Day 6 – Olduvai Gorge/Serengeti: After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti, stopping along the way for a walk at Olduvai Gorge, the “Cradle of Mankind”. The giant Serengeti ecosystem is home to millions of animals, including lions, cheetah, leopards, buffalo, elephants, zebras, impalas, hyenas, gazelles, hippos, crocodiles, and more. From November to June, chances are good that you’ll see part of the Great Wildebeest Migration (not guaranteed). Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Kati Kati Camp. (B, L, D)

Kati Kati Camp is a tented camp featuring twenty tents with en-suite facilities located in the central Serengeti, strategically located to cover the vast Serengeti Plains. The camp offers comfortable accommodation and a unique opportunity to enjoy a real safari camp experience.

Days 7 & 8 – Serengeti: Enjoy two full days of game drives in the Serengeti National Park with evening sundowner drinks overlooking the savannah. Meals and overnights at Serengeti Kati Kati Camp. (B, L, D)

Day 9 – Depart: After your last early morning game drive and breakfast in the Serengeti, fly back to Arusha (flight included). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Moivaro Lodge for lunch and use of a day room. You will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your departing flight. (B, L)

Families With Younger Children: We highly recommend replacing the seasonal tented camp with the Serengeti Serena Lodge, which offers adjoining rooms and a pool for cooling off during the heat of the day. Call for pricing for this 3-day upgrade.
