Day 1 – Arusha: On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and driven to Lake Duluti Lodge for your overnight. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure, taking a 5 minute walk to Lake Duluti if you wish. (B)
Lake Duluti Lodge is located on a 30 acre coffee farm on the outskirts of Arusha. The lodge is made up of 19 spacious contemporary African styled suites ideally positioned for maximum privacy and view. The lodge prides itself on its exquisite cuisine, its first class exclusivity, exceptional personalized service, top class amenities and being eco-friendly.
Days 2 & 3 – Tarangire National Park: After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its elephant herds and huge baobab trees. Enjoy a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive before heading to Oliver’s Camp. The range of activities here is unique for a camp inside a Tanzanian National Park. Off-road driving makes game viewing more intense and interesting. Optional walking safaris, night game drives and a hot air balloon ride add another unique wildlife viewing perspective (additional cost). (B, L, D, Dr)
Oliver’s Camp has a low-key simplicity enhanced by discreet creature comforts and truly welcoming hosts. There are ten luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms with running water and flush toilets, outdoor showers and views of the surrounding area. The tents at Oliver’s have thatched roofs and private wooden decks with day beds.
Day 4 – Lake Manyara: After breakfast, depart camp and game drive through the park. Continue for an afternoon game drive and picnic lunch in Lake Manyara National Park, famous for tree-climbing lions, as well as the thousands of flamingos that make their annual pilgrimage to the shores of Lake Manyara. Drive to Entamanu Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D, Dr)
Entamanu Ngorongoro is perched high on the side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The seven rooms, two of which are family units ideal for families with children, have textured wool, down duvets and heaters which provide warmth in the sleeping tents against the chilly nights, as well as fully openable fronts to let the breeze in when it warms up during the day. Big verandas wrap around the front of the rooms and are the ideal place to sit and marvel at the view. All of the rooms have views into the Crater, with immense Serengeti views to be enjoyed from the other side of camp. The interiors are of sustainably sourced wood and everything within the camp is locally sourced and made by talented Tanzanian artisans.
Day 5 – Ngorongoro Crater: After breakfast, spend the day exploring the famous Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch. This 100-square-mile caldera is home to more than 20,000 large mammals like lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, wildebeest and the rare black rhino. Dinner and overnight at Entamanu Ngorongoro. (B, L, D, Dr)
Day 6 – Serengeti: After breakfast, drive to the Manyara Airstrip for your flight to Dunia Camp orSayari Camp (depending on travel date) in the Serengeti. All camps are perfectly positioned to witness the great wildebeest migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Dunia Camp (December – May) orSayari Camp (June – October). (B, L, D, Dr)
Dunia Camp is a small, semi-permanent camp, with seven spacious tents tucked away in a private location amongst the Moru Kopjes, allowing access to some of the best game viewing areas available in the central and southern Serengeti. It has eight large, luxurious raised guest tents, including one family unit, with fantastic views from the veranda where morning coffee can be enjoyed. The tents all feature king-sized beds, and en suite bathrooms with flushable toilet and plumbed shower. Dunia Camp is proud to be run by an all female staff, a rarity in this predominantly male-dominated society.
Sayari is Swahili for universe or planet, capturing the vast plains and endless skies in which Sayari Camp is immersed. Each of the 15 luxury tents blends perfectly into the majestic northern Serengeti landscape. Each spacious suite has a king-sized bed (twin beds available) with fine linens and safari-chic decor to offset the wilderness just beyond the canvas walls. The en-suite bathrooms with walk-in shower and egg-shaped bathtub overlook the Northern Serengeti plains, as do the beautiful private verandas outside.
Days 7 & 8 – Serengeti: Enjoy two full days of game drives in the Serengeti. This giant ecosystem is home to millions of animals including lions, cheetah, leopards, buffalo, elephants, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, etc. Meals and overnights at Dunia Camp or SayariCamp. (B, L, D, Dr)
Day 9 – Arusha/Depart: After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Arusha, where you will have lunch and the use of a day room at the Lake Duluti Lodge. You will then be driven to the airport in time for your onward flights. (B, L)
