Enjoy this tented camp safari in the heart of Botswana’s premier wildlife areas. The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta system in the world and offers spectacular game viewing, including elephant, lion, zebra, leopard, wild dog & giraffe. Diverse activities allow guests time on the water, on land and on foot.
Day 1 – Kwando Concession: Upon arrival in Maun and after you clear customs, you will be met and transferred by light aircraft to Lagoon Camp in the Kwando Concession, arriving in time for dinner. Dinner and overnight here.
LagoonCamp lies on the shady banks of the Kwando River, nestled beneath towering ebony and marula trees. The densely forested site is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals; the stunning views and close proximity of wildlife all contribute to the pervading sense of calm. The camp has eight expansive tents all with private decks, living area and bathroom facing onto the river. All have inside and outdoor showers and one tent includes an additional twin room for family use. The main thatched areas of the camp include a bar/lounge, dining area, curio shop and second-level library overlooking the river. The camp also has a plunge pool and outdoor deck with a swing.
Day 2 – Kwando Concession: Enjoy a full day of shared safari activities in the Kwando Concession. The area has a well-earned reputation for big game with seasonal large herds of elephant and buffalo. In the winter, herds of up to a thousand are not uncommon and large numbers of elephant drink at the river bank in full view of the main camp deck. This vast concentration of game attracts the attention of large predators, including the Lagoon wild dog pack who regularly den close to the camp. Choose from game drives, game walks, a boat cruise or fishing. Meals and overnight at Lagoon Camp.
Day 3 – Chitabe Concession: After a morning activity and breakfast, fly by light aircraft to the Okavango Delta and transfer to Chitabe. Chitabe is located in the Chitabe Concession, which covers nearly 55,000 acres of prime, private wilderness in the southeast of the Okavango Delta. This unique area harbors a massive variety of habitats within close proximity giving rise to a surprising diversity of species. The mix of Okavango and Kalahari makes for an excellent home to an abundant array of herbivores: giraffes, buffalos, red lechwe, tsessebe, impala and elephants, which in turn support the larger predators: lions, leopards, spotted hyaenas, cheetahs and African wild dogs. Dinner and overnight here.
Chitabe’s eight spacious Meru-style tents, with fine-art wildlife photographs, are set on elevated wooden decks under large, shady trees. Each tent has twin beds and en suite facilities with indoor and outdoor showers. The thatched dining area, bar and lounge spaces are built on elevated decks to provide superb views across the expansive floodplain. A pool in the main area allows you to cool off in the heat of the day.
Day 4 – Chitabe Concession: Enjoy a full day of shared safari activities, including game drives and nature walks. Meals and overnight at Chitabe.
Day 5 – Okavango Delta: After a morning activity and breakfast, fly to Duke’s Camp in the Northern Okavango Delta. Duke’s Camp is a striking new safari destination set on a vast concession rich in game and natural beauty, and it lies waiting to be discovered. This unfenced camp offers front-row seats to the Okavango Delta. With glorious views over a flood plain and seasonal lagoon, enjoy game viewing from the comfort of your under-canvas suite. Located in one of Africa’s most game-rich and beautiful concessions, you’ll enjoy one-of-a-kind wildlife encounters. Dinner and overnight here.
Duke’s Camp offers eight deluxe safari tents, including two family tents. Each tent offers a spacious en suite bathroom, bedecked with brass fittings and bespoke amenities, as well as a private viewing deck. Outdoor leather chairs offer a space for quiet reflection on your time in the wilderness, and the opportunity for spontaneous game sightings. Herds of elephant and red lechwe are common here, and moments spent in quiet observation rarely go unrewarded. The camp also has a communal swimming pool.
Days 6 & 7 – Okavango Delta: Enjoy two full days of shared safari activities. Activities include game drives, boating, mokoro rides, hot air balloon rides and scenic helicopter flights (some at an additional cost). Meals and overnights at Duke’s Camp.
Day 8 – Maun/Depart: After breakfast and a final glimpse of the wildlife reserve, you will fly by light aircraft to Maun Airport where you will take your connecting flight home.
